Kata Hubung Pembuat Anak Kalimat

Berbeda dengan FANBOYS yang menghubungkan kalimat setara, Subordinating Conjunctions digunakan untuk menghubungkan Induk Kalimat (Main Clause) dengan Anak Kalimat (Dependent Clause).

"Anak kalimat TIDAK BISA berdiri sendiri jika dipisah dari induknya!"

🚂 The Engine & Carriage Logic

Bayangkan Induk Kalimat sebagai "Mesin" yang bisa berjalan sendiri, dan Anak Kalimat sebagai "Gerbong" yang harus ditarik.

[INDUK KALIMAT] + CONJ + [ANAK KALIMAT]

E.g. I stayed at home because it was raining.
("Because it was raining" tidak masuk akal jika dibaca sendirian tanpa induk kalimat).

🔘 Time (Waktu)

Menjelaskan kapan sesuatu terjadi.
Words: When, While, Before, After, Until, Since.
E.g. Call me when you arrive.

🔘 Reason (Alasan)

Menjelaskan mengapa sesuatu terjadi.
Words: Because, Since, As.
E.g. We left early because we were tired.

🔘 Condition (Syarat)

Menjelaskan syarat terjadinya sesuatu.
Words: If, Unless (Kecuali jika), Provided that.
E.g. I will go if you go.

⚠️ The Flip-Flop Comma Trap

Posisi kata hubung ini bisa dibolak-balik (di tengah atau di depan). Perhatikan aturan KOMA-nya:

✅ Jika di TENGAH = TANPA KOMA
I will buy a car if I have money.

✅ Jika di DEPAN = WAJIB KOMA (di akhir anak kalimat)
If I have money, I will buy a car.

Because	Sebab / Alasan	She passed the test because she studied hard.
Although	Walaupun (Kontras)	Although it was cold, we went swimming.
While	Sementara (Sedang terjadi)	He read a book while I was sleeping.
Unless	Kecuali jika (Syarat)	You will fail unless you study.
As soon as	Segera setelah (Waktu)	I will call you as soon as I get home.

⚠️ Exam Trap: Because vs. Because of
Kata Because adalah kata hubung, jadi WAJIB diikuti kalimat lengkap (Subjek + Verb).
Sedangkan Because of adalah preposisi, jadi HANYA BOLEH diikuti kata benda (Noun/Pronoun).
✅ I was late because it rained. (Ada S+V)
✅ I was late because of the rain. (Hanya Noun)
